About the Journal for One Stop Excellence
JFOSE improves students' educational experience worldwide.
About Us
The Journal for One Stop Excellence was conceived of by Scott Saltman; a former Director of One Stop Student Services with University of Massachusetts Global (formerly Brandman University). Scott has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and wanted to provide a forum which allows those in Student Services communicate, collaborate, and demonstrate best practices as they relate to the Science of Student Services and subsets like the One Stop Student Services model.
The Journal for One Stop Student Excellence or JFOSE produced its first inaugural issue in July 2023 and releases these on a regular basis (once per quarter).

Change Education to Student
“I remember days after high school when we received the college catalog through the mail. I was so excited to start circling the courses I wanted to take from my local community college! I did so and on the day of registration, went to my nearby community college stood in line for hours, and tried to register only to find the classes I wanted to take were already full. The alternative courses I saved as back-ups also had waiting lists. So, I ended up registering for courses I had no interest in or intention of taking. I did not have a mentor or a guide to show me what my options were and the introduction to the college class my community college provided was of no help. It took over a month for an appointment with an Academic Advisor and I knew nothing about financial aid since I was simply told I would not qualify.
I am passionate about the student journey and helping those who had a similar path to myself. My hope is that providing resources to schools and their Student Services team will continue to lead toward a positive student experience while closing the gap on misinformation and administrative potholes which take a student away from their studies into the management of unrelated bureaucratic paperwork.”

Your Success is the Heart of Our Mission
“We have a profound responsibility. Students are not a number; they are people whose lives we are about to help shape. Misadvisement, misinformation, or omission of information can lead students down the wrong path. It is with this in mind that JFOSE was created. By helping those in the field of Student Services we are helping the students by proxy. A single change can help a student to stay in class, realize their resources, and ultimately remain motivated. If I can help others to recognize this passion, I can sleep well knowing there are those who have the student’s interest at the top of their priorities.”
